Bandung, one of the largest cities in Java after Jakarta, offers an incredible natural escape with regions like Lembang and the nearby volcanic areas. The main highlight of this tour is a visit to one of the active craters that has erupted multiple times in the past. The landscape, shaped by lava flow and geothermal activity, presents a dramatic and beautiful scene, complemented by the local legend of Sangkuriang—a story of forbidden love between a son and his mother, Dayang Sumbi. This myth adds cultural depth to the visit. You’ll have the chance to hike about 1 km down to the crater, step across hot stones and bubbling mud pools, and even try boiling eggs in the steaming sulfur vents.
The experience continues with visits to other craters, giving a wider perspective on the region’s volcanic activity. Along the way, enjoy a taste of local culture by trying regional coffee, fresh pineapple, and traditional Sundanese food. Scenic stops at rice fields and tea plantations offer great photo opportunities and a relaxing atmosphere. The tour includes entrance to additional craters, with support from a knowledgeable local guide to enhance your exploration. Please note that total duration is counted from pick-up to drop-off and may vary depending on traffic conditions.

It's expensive (150.000 per person and still have to tip the guide) and there are people trying to asked for money and following me around (pretending to sell souvenir at ridiculous price. A guy offered me magnets for 300.000). It's very annoying and the guide know it and let them follow us. If you want to know how it feels like to get close to a crater, you can consider it. But it's not the place that I'll visit again or recommend to my friend

Read the other reviews about kawah Domas. Mostly the same pattern. 1 star given still bit much. If you are entering Tangkuban Perahu at the enterance gate, they would tell you the ticket would be included entering kawah Domas. It wasn't. I had to paid extra another 400,000 IDR (1 foreigner plus 3 local) and the receipt was kept by the tour guide as he would handle it in for local report. It wasn't long path maybe only 2 km, not so sure why we couldn't walked by our own. Then the repeated story pattern as I mentioned above began. How (the tour guide) only had 1 time chance to guide in a week. Because they need to rolling with others and he had 'formal' job as driver to delivery the Vegatable to town. Funny how all of them had the same job and story among the tour guides. I had the second time came here. So, I knew what to expect. There was several pools with different temperatures where you can put your feet down and a bit relax after walking. There was also 'services' that the locals offered. Massages your feet or hands, arms, with these special sulfur mud volcanos which treated as a cure for any skin Problem. And they were not so persistent once you said NO and would leaves you alone. You also can boiled the eggs in one of the hottest pool that the tour guide would buy at local warung. The price was fixed on the display, around 5,000IDR/pcs. We were stayed for maybe 1 hour. Because of the strong smells from the sulfur would made you dizzy if you stay more than an hour. Not forget to gave tips for your tour guide before the journey ended. For me, it was totally ok if we were helping the local as they were also depending on the tourist. But, I did not supported these kind of scammed (2 times paid as it was mentioned all included in the beggining?) also selling the same saddness stories for gained sympathy? So, if you're curious and would like to have a bit adventures, maybe its for you. But also prepare more or less around 1 mio Rupiah if you come with family or grup. Ripped you off for sure!

Crater is great. Price is not normal for Indonesian standards though: I paid 430.000 IDR at entrance gate to both craters for ‘foreigner’ and ‘weekend’ fee with 1 car. Total: 820.000 IDR for 1 person to grab to the crater, have the cabbie wait 1:45 hrs and drive back. I didn’t want to walk down to Kawah Domas at all because guides were annoying and pushy and told me it costs another 300.000. White Crater is much more chill, you can also experience sulphur and hot springs there. Also, as I read in other reviews, the peddlers are quite persistent, more than in other attractions. Overall: total rip off but that’s not the crater’s fault.

Domas Crater comes on the way to the top of Parahu. You can see a Arch on the side of the road, you can stop there and take guide to walk to the Domas Crater. It's 1.2km walk. We payed 100k IDR per person at the arch , guide cost which is additional cost to entrance fee. The guide walked us through the most obvious route, we felt we could have done it by ourselves. The best part is the crater itself. They have made a few pools around the sections where hot bubbling water is coming out of the earth. Some of the pools , the bubbles and activity is a lot , and it must be higher temperature. Eggs were boiled there. Others are warm enough to dip legs. There are few people who insist that they do massage with sulfur, very persuasive. We eventually ended up doing the massage for 100kIDR for legs and another 50kIDR for hands per person. And the guide pushed us to pay some more at the end of the walk, suggesting the initial money we pay for the guide at the entrance goes to the government and he doesn't get anything. We were pushed to pay close to 100kIDR again, but we paid 70kIDR.

The guides are unnecessary and costs extra 100k per pax and then you need tip the guide as well which is ridiculous. The folks at the Crater are super aggressive for the massage which is a rip off. The route is straight forward and guide doesn't serve much purpose since it's a short hike. Mostly downhill on the way to the Crater, there are a few huts for resting on the way. From the moment you buy the ticket till you come out it's all about the money. We ended up spending 550k which is a lot for something like this. This is in addition to exorbitant fee paid at the main entrance. Place is good and worth a visit. You don't need to wear a mask and the sulphur smell is bearable. You can buy eggs and boil them at the hot springs. Skip the hand/back/leg massage since it's rip off and they do it for just 15 minutes. Best is to just soak your legs in the hot springs and enjoy the surroundings.
